Warri-Itakpe Train Derails Amid Track Vandalism Suspicions

The Warri-Itakpe train derailed involving two seven-coach trains shortly after resuming service on a 326-kilometer line managed by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC). Dr.

Kayode Opeifa, the NRC Managing Director, attributed the incident to suspected track vandalism. Passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were recorded.

Train services on the route have been temporarily suspended for a security and safety audit. The NRC had previously suspended services in April due to track faults.
