WAEC Reports 32.72% Pass Rate for 2026 WASSCE Results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) released the results for the 2026 first series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates, revealing a pass rate of 32.72%. According to a statement from Moyosola Adesina, the head of public affairs at WAEC, out of 10,523 candidates who sat for the examination, 3,429 candidates achieved credits in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.

This represents an increase from previous years, with a pass rate of 30.95% for the 2024 and 2025 first series. Additionally, 4,598 candidates (43.87%) obtained credits in five subjects without including English Language and Mathematics.

The results processing showed that 8,418 candidates had fully processed results, while 2,062 candidates had results for a few subjects due to errors. WAEC noted that 75 candidates had their results withheld due to ongoing investigations into examination malpractice.

The examination was conducted from January 28 to February 14, 2026.
