World Bank Aims to Electrify 32 Million Nigerians by 2032

The World Bank has set a target to connect 32 million Nigerians to electricity and provide broadband internet access to an additional 58 million people by the year 2032, as outlined in its new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) for Nigeria covering 2026 to 2032. The CPF also aims to benefit 9.5 million farmers through initiatives that enhance agricultural production, value addition, and market linkages.

Taimur Samad, the Acting Country Director of the World Bank, presented the CPF on Wednesday in Lagos during the Industrialisation & Competitiveness Forum organized by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group. The framework seeks to create more private-sector jobs and improve competitiveness and growth, with a focus on mobilizing $4.1 billion in private capital for infrastructure and agribusiness.

Key objectives include a 30% increase in the non-oil revenue-to-GDP ratio, support for 250,000 SMEs, and improved health and education services for millions of Nigerians.
