Labour Party Acknowledges Impact of Peter Obi's Exit

The spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP) admitted the significant impact of Peter Obi's exit from the party, which has created a major vacuum in the opposition landscape. Obi, who was the party's former presidential candidate, is expected to officially leave the LP on December 31.

In response to this anticipated departure, the LP has already begun implementing measures to reduce the impact of his exit. The party is focusing on rebuilding its political structure and base, identifying its strongest institutional support from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).

The spokesperson, Asogwa, emphasized that despite the challenges posed by Obi's departure, the Labour Party remains capable of producing formidable presidential candidates for the upcoming 2027 elections.
