Labour Party Confident Despite Peter Obi's Departure

The Labour Party, through its national chairman Nenadi Usman, assured that the exit of former presidential candidate Peter Obi would not impact the party's performance in the upcoming 2027 general elections. During a screening exercise for aspirants at the party's headquarters in Abuja, Usman expressed confidence in the growing number of individuals interested in contesting under the Labour Party platform.

She emphasized that the party remains strong and is encouraged by the turnout of aspirants. Usman reiterated that the party would zone its presidential ticket to the southern region and aims to adopt a consensus candidate for the primaries.

Enyinnaya Abaribe, a senator representing Abia South, declared the Labour Party's position to sweep elections in Abia State, highlighting the party's control and the expected success in the upcoming governorship and senatorial elections. The primaries are scheduled for May 30, and Usman expressed optimism about the party's prospects.
