Kano Ex-Deputy Governor Reveals Creation of Kwankwasiyya Movement, Challenging Kwankwaso's Leadership

Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, a former Deputy Governor of Kano State, has disclosed that he and five others, not Sen.

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, founded the Kwankwasiyya movement. Abubakar explained that the idea, name, and symbol of Kwankwasiyya were developed by himself and the group to support Kwankwaso during challenging political times.

He accused Kwankwaso of failing to acknowledge their role in building the movement, leading to internal divisions and resentment within the political family. The current Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, emphasized the importance of loyalty to the state over individuals, hinting at a shift in political allegiances.

This revelation signals a growing crack within the Kwankwasiyya political bloc and reflects deeper disagreements over ownership and loyalty within the movement. Governor Yusuf's resignation from the NNPP to protect Kano's political stability further underscores the evolving political landscape in the state.
