INEC Denies Rejecting Resignation of Rivers Lawmaker Edison

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Rivers State has clarified that they did not reject the resignation of lawmaker Ehie Ogerenye Edison, contrary to reports. INEC debunked claims that they declined to fill the vacant seat in the State Constituency II of the Rivers State House Assembly.

The Commission emphasized that they merely reiterated a policy directive from their headquarters authorizing the conduct of an election to fill the vacancy. This clarification came after a misinterpretation of a meeting with the Advisory Committee of IPAC in Rivers State on September 29.
