Nigerian Senator Ningi Calls for Action Against South Africa

During a plenary session on Tuesday, Nigerian Senator Abdul Ahm Ningi, representing Bauchi Central, expressed strong concerns regarding the ongoing xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa. He stated, "We know where South Africans are, we will take the fight to their territory," emphasizing the need for the Nigerian government to take decisive action.

Ningi's remarks came amid calls from former Edo Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who urged the Nigerian government to consider retaliatory measures against South African businesses in Nigeria, such as revoking operating licenses for companies like MTN and DSTV. Oshiomhole criticized the South African government for failing to protect Nigerian citizens and accused South Africans of blaming Nigerians for job losses.

The discussions reflect a growing frustration among Nigerian lawmakers regarding the treatment of their citizens abroad and the perceived inaction of the South African government in addressing these issues.
