Displaced Yemenis Face Dire Needs Amid Renewed Conflict

Displaced Yemeni woman Arwa described the dire conditions inside her tent at Al-Farsi camp in Aden’s Al-Buraika district, highlighting the lack of basic necessities as thousands flee renewed fighting. Since the beginning of September, the United Nations reported that at least 125,000 people have been displaced due to intensified conflict along Yemen’s western coast.

The World Food Programme indicated that many fleeing families are struggling to access food and essential services. UNICEF reported on September 16 that over 104,000 people, including more than 57,000 children, have been displaced in just two weeks, with at least nine children killed and 12 injured since September 3.

The renewed displacement is straining Yemen's fragile humanitarian system, with 26 health facilities disrupted and 243 schools closed, affecting over 137,000 students. Families are attempting to rebuild their lives under challenging conditions, facing overcrowding and shortages of food, water, and hygiene supplies, while the ongoing violence makes returning home impossible.
