2Baba's Mother Reflects on His Musical Journey and Legacy

Rose Idibia, the mother of renowned Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, shared insights into her family's aspirations for him during an interview with Vanguard. She revealed that before 2Baba gained fame, the family envisioned him becoming a doctor, lawyer, or engineer.

Despite recognizing his musical talent early on, they initially preferred a more traditional career path. Rose, a retired teacher, emphasized the detrimental effects of forcing a child away from their interests, stating that it is crucial to support a child's natural inclinations.

She acknowledged the controversies and criticisms that have surrounded her son throughout his career but noted that his determination remained steadfast. Regarding his legacy, Rose stated that it transcends financial success, aiming instead to leave a significant mark on Nigerian music.
