FIFA Executives Distance from Infantino's $20bn Plan

Arsene Wenger, the Chief of Global Football Development at FIFA, stated that he was unaware of the $20 billion FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) plan since its inception. He emphasized that the implementation of FFE should not compromise FIFA’s integrity, unity, and freedom.

FIFA's General Secretary, Mattias Grafstrom, communicated to staff regarding the recent crisis, assuring them that they would not succumb to political pressures stemming from the plan's failure. The initiative aimed to generate $4.2 billion by selling 20% of future business operations, including competitions and media rights, to third-party investors.

However, it faced significant opposition from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and other federations, prompting Infantino to suspend the plans. The backlash also led UEFA lawyers to instruct FIFA to preserve any related records concerning the deal.

Wenger and Grafstrom's distancing from Infantino indicates growing dissent within FIFA's leadership regarding the controversial plan.
