WhatsApp Launches Enhanced Security Features for Users

WhatsApp has rolled out a series of new security features aimed at enhancing account protection for its more than 3 billion users. Key updates include support for multiple passkeys, allowing users to create separate passkeys for different platforms for biometric logins.

The previous six-digit PIN for two-step verification has been replaced with a full password that can include letters, numbers, and special characters, making accounts more secure. Additionally, WhatsApp has improved call screening for Android users by providing information on incoming calls from unknown numbers, such as the caller's country of origin and shared group chats.

This update is part of a broader initiative to protect users from fraud, which includes features like "Strict Account Settings" for high-risk individuals and a "Scam Alert" feature currently in beta testing. These enhancements reflect WhatsApp's commitment to safeguarding user accounts against unauthorized access and scam attempts.
