Sowore Demands Justice for Lekki Toll Gate Shootings

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), has publicly demanded the identification and prosecution of individuals responsible for the shootings at the Lekki Toll Gate during the #EndSARS protests. This demand was made on 𝕏 on the sixth anniversary of the protests.

Sowore questioned why victims are still awaiting justice six years later, asking, “Where are the killers? Who ordered the shootings at Lekki Toll Gate?

Who has been prosecuted?” He also called for investigations into the involvement of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, military and police commanders, and others he accused of being linked to the incident. Additionally, Sowore raised concerns about allegations that the toll gate's CCTV camera was removed prior to the shootings, urging for these claims to be investigated.

He characterized the #EndSARS protests as a revolt against police brutality, torture, extortion, and extrajudicial killings, pledging that if elected in 2027, he would reopen investigations into the Lekki Toll Gate incident and prosecute anyone found culpable.
