Dele Odule Mourns Loss of Close Friend Ogogo

Dele Odule, a veteran actor, expressed profound grief over the death of his close friend and colleague Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, who died on August 23, 2026, after a battle with stage 4 cancer. Ogogo was laid to rest the following day in his hometown of Ilaro.

In an emotional tribute shared on Instagram on August 26, 2026, Odule recounted their nearly four-decade-long friendship, which evolved into a brotherhood. He described Ogogo as a man who loved unconditionally, regardless of tribe, religion, or background, and characterized him as "genuinely down to earth" and "free-spirited." Odule acknowledged Ogogo's significant contributions to Nigerian theatre and the impact he had on many lives through his work.

He also noted the widespread grief following Ogogo's passing, with younger generations sharing clips of his performances and a community turnout in Ilaro to honor him. Fellow actor Yinka Quadri also reflected on their friendship, describing Ogogo as a brother and confidant.
