Emotional Farewell at Ogogo's Funeral in Ilaro

Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66 after a prolonged battle with stage-four cancer. His funeral was held on August 24, 2026, in Ilaro, where a lying-in-state ceremony preceded the burial.

Dele Odule, a close friend and colleague of Ogogo, was visibly emotional during the service, trembling and weeping while addressing the gathering. Odule, a former president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), shared a long history of friendship and professional collaboration with Ogogo.

The funeral attracted significant attendance from industry veterans, including Yinka Quadri, Jide Kosoko, Femi Adebayo, Madam Saje, and Bolaji Amusan, all of whom were deeply affected by the loss. Ogogo was born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro and had a successful career in Yoruba-language cinema spanning over four decades.
