APC Delays Gombe Deputy Governor Candidate Announcement

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has yet to announce a running mate for its 2027 governorship candidate, Dr Jamilu Gwamna. Party Chairman Mohammed Ndus stated that the delay is due to ongoing consultations to select an appropriate candidate who can contribute effectively to governance.

Ndus clarified that the selection process differs from the primary elections, which produced Gwamna, as it requires broader stakeholder engagement. He assured that the APC is adhering to the electoral timetable and is not late in its decision-making.

Furthermore, Ndus indicated that the running mate would not necessarily come from the same area as current Governor Muhammadu Yahaya, focusing instead on the candidate's competence. Amidst political interest in the running mate's identity, Ndus addressed internal party grievances following the primaries, noting that a reconciliation committee led by Deputy Governor Manassah Jatau is actively working to resolve issues and unify the party ahead of the elections.
