In response, the Presidency stated that Obi's comparison ignored the full economic context and showed inconsistency. They highlighted Tinubu's inflation trajectory, starting at 12% in May 2023, peaking at 18% in December 2024, and now at 14%.

The Presidency argued that Obi's endorsement of Argentina's reforms while opposing similar measures in Nigeria displayed a double standard. They urged Nigerians to focus on sustaining reforms and maintaining policy consistency to avoid economic failures.
