Omokri Demands Prosecution of El-Rufai for Human Rights Abuses

Reno Omokri, the ambassador-designate, has urged for the immediate prosecution of Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, due to allegations of human rights abuses during his eight-year tenure. Omokri highlights instances of violence, including the killing of 347 Shia Muslims, which he claims involved women and children, and an estimated death toll of around 1,000.

He also references the abduction of critic Abubakar Idris and the arrests of several journalists and activists, asserting that El-Rufai's actions have led to a climate of fear. Omokri criticizes El-Rufai's recent claims of persecution, emphasizing that he should face legal consequences for alleged theft of 423 billion naira during his governorship.

He stresses that no one is above the law, including El-Rufai, and condemns the recent incident at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where El-Rufai's passport was allegedly seized by DSS personnel. Omokri concludes that El-Rufai's history of suppressing dissent and committing alleged atrocities must not go unaccounted.
