Bovi Ugboma Rejects Typecast Roles After Extended Family

Bovi Ugboma, a Nigerian comedian and actor, has publicly shared his reasons for rejecting certain movie roles following his performance in the film Extended Family. He stated that he began receiving offers to play similar characters, such as a "Warri boy" and a gateman, which he declined.

During an episode of the CreativiTea Podcast, Bovi explained that accepting these roles would associate him with a specific character type, limiting his versatility as an actor. Despite the continued offers, he chose to be more selective, believing he could take on a broader array of roles.

Bovi emphasized that his background in comedy influenced the types of roles he was initially offered, as filmmakers often drew from the characters audiences recognized him for. He expressed a desire to avoid roles that required him to repeat characters he had already portrayed, stating, “I knew there was more to me.”.
