Jaiye Kuti Stops Wishing Nollywood Colleagues Happy Birthdays

Jaiye Kuti, a Nollywood actress also known as Jayeola Monj, has publicly stated that she has ceased wishing her colleagues happy birthdays. In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, she criticized the Nollywood industry for what she perceives as fake love and a lack of genuine support among practitioners.

Kuti expressed that relationships within Nollywood have weakened, particularly during challenging times when many practitioners face similar struggles. She recalled receiving minimal support when she publicly complained about her movie being removed from several cinemas, despite knowing the difficulties she was encountering.

Kuti accused her colleagues of failing to offer support during significant occasions, especially birthdays, when she felt she truly needed it. She emphasized the financial realities of filmmaking, stating that people often underestimate the costs involved in producing and distributing movies, which leads to significant challenges in recovering investments.
