Minister Tegbe Promises Improved Power Supply by Year-End

On Thursday, Joseph Tegbe, the Minister of Power, assured Nigerians of significant improvements in electricity supply by the end of the year. He stated that the Federal Government is prepared to make difficult decisions to reverse decades of underinvestment and poor management in the power sector.

Tegbe spoke during the official launch of the pilot phase of the Africa Mini Grid Programme in Abuja, which aims to stimulate the energy market and enhance agricultural value chains. The initiative will unveil 23 solar mini-grid projects across rural communities in Nigeria, expected to provide electricity to 50,000 people and 20,000 households, supporting businesses, schools, and healthcare facilities.

Tegbe emphasized the importance of patience as the challenges in the power sector have accumulated over several decades. He reiterated President Bola Tinubu's commitment to ensuring that every Nigerian enjoys the dividends of democracy through improved electricity access, while also highlighting the need for a robust regulatory framework to attract investment in the sector.
