Kun Khalifa FC Withdraws From Nigeria Premier League Due to Disciplinary Measures

Kun Khalifa FC, a Nigerian football club, announced its withdrawal from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) due to disciplinary measures imposed by the league authorities. The club's Chief Executive Officer, Michael Amaefula, stated that Kun Khalifa would no longer participate in the competition.

The decision came after the club failed to travel for a match against El Kanemi Warriors on February 2, 2026, resulting in the NPFL docking three points and three goals from Kun Khalifa, along with a fine of 10 million naira. Kun Khalifa FC claimed logistical difficulties and alleged that the league rescheduled fixtures without proper consultation.

The club, owned by four private individuals, made its NPFL debut in the 2025-26 season alongside Remo Stars, Ikorodu City, and Barau FC. Kun Khalifa had previously struggled financially and failed to complete an NPFL season in 2012.
