Kun Khalifat Reverses Decision, Rejoins NPFL After Sanctions Row

Kun Khalifat, a player in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), reversed his decision to quit the competition after facing disciplinary sanctions. He had initially announced his withdrawal following a match against El Kanemi Warrior and accused the league authorities of unfair treatment and excessive punishment.

The NPFL board sanctioned Kun Khalifat in line with league regulations, imposing a fine of 10 million Naira, forfeiture of fixtures, deduction of three points, and three goals for failing to honor the match. Despite the imposed fine and suspension, Kun Khalifat's club's leadership reacted strongly, with the Chief Executive, Michael Amaefula, expressing dissatisfaction.

However, the NPFL's Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, clarified that the league had not formally received a withdrawal notice. Following renewed discussions, the club confirmed Kun Khalifat's reinstatement, and they are set to resume action immediately.

The player's return marks the second withdrawal-related controversy he has been involved in as his team continues to battle relegation from the NPFL.
