Leverkusen Explains Boniface Loan to Werder Bremen

Bayer Leverkusen's sports director, Simon Rolf, clarified the club's decision to send Victor Boniface on loan to Werder Bremen last summer. The primary reason was to assist Boniface in regaining full fitness after injuries had disrupted his second season.

Rolf emphasized that the physical demands of elite football and a congested fixture list made it difficult for Boniface to rebuild his condition. Consequently, the club agreed that a loan was the best option for him to regain match rhythm.

During his time at Werder Bremen, Boniface faced persistent knee issues that ultimately required surgery in January. Following the procedure, he focused on rehabilitation and began individual training sessions in early April, with hopes of reintegrating into team activities by the end of the season.

Despite these setbacks, Boniface had made a strong impression at Bayer Leverkusen in 2023, playing a key role in the club's unbeaten league campaign and finishing among the leading scorers.
