Fuel Supply Halted as Dangote Refinery Suspends Sales

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), represented by Western Zone Chairman Oyewole Akanni, announced that marketers have temporarily halted fuel supply and closed filling stations due to uncertainty surrounding petrol prices. This situation arose after Dangote Refinery suspended the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) four days ago.
Market sources indicated that the ex-depot price of petrol has increased from ₦1,200 to ₦1,220 per liter, excluding transport costs. Marketers who purchased petrol on Friday paid between ₦1,210 and ₦1,220 per liter.
Akanni explained that the suspension of PMS sales has left filling stations without stock, and they are awaiting clarity on whether prices will decrease once the refinery resumes sales. He emphasized that there is no fuel scarcity, urging the public not to panic despite the potential for increased pump prices if the current situation persists.
The refinery did not provide prior notice regarding the suspension, which has affected the supply chain.
