Marwa Urges Nigerians to Combat Drug Abuse Culture

On May 21, 2026, Brig Gen Mohammed Buba Marwa, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), called on Nigerians to actively counter toxic pop culture that glamorizes drug abuse, especially among the youth. Speaking during the launch of Clean Beat 91.5 FM in Abuja, Marwa emphasized the need for a collective effort to combat the acceptance of illicit substance abuse in society.

He highlighted the role of the media in shaping narratives and proposed that Clean Beat 91.5 FM serve as a platform to promote sobriety and showcase recovery stories. Marwa pointed out that drug abuse is a significant threat to public health and economic stability, urging stakeholders to join the NDLEA in its proactive approach to drug control.

He reiterated that true victory against substance abuse cannot be achieved solely through enforcement but requires dismantling the demand for drugs and educating the public. The initiative aims to align with the national drug control master plan and foster a healthier, drug-free Nigeria.
