Widow Opposes Probe Over Husband's Death, Alleges Police Mishandling

Christiana Akingboy, widow of late businessman-politician Bamidel Akingboy, is opposing a new probe into her husband's death, alleging that the Lagos State Police Command mishandled the case by releasing the body without proper procedures and mistreating critical evidence. She accuses the police of leaking confidential investigation documents online and giving preferential treatment to her estranged stepson.

Despite seeking the return of her husband's personal effects, including his mobile phone and medical evidence, she claims they were not returned. Akingboy's legal team issued formal warnings to the police morgue not to release the body without consent or a valid court order.

The Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions provided legal advice exonerating the family from any criminal involvement. Akingboy calls for an independent investigation into the matter to ensure accountability and justice for her late husband.
