PDP Caretaker Committee Attends INEC Meeting Amid Leadership Crisis

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) faced internal turmoil as a caretaker committee supported by Nyesom Wike participated in an INEC consultative meeting in Abuja. The meeting occurred amid a leadership crisis within the party following a court order nullifying a PDP convention held in November 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

This ruling prevented Tanimu Turaki and others from acting as national party officials. Despite this, Wike's faction, including Abdulrahman Moham and Samuel Anyanwu, maintained their positions within the party's leadership structure.

The caretaker committee, comprising 13 members, was formed on December 8 with a 60-day mandate. Legal battles ensued as both factions sought official recognition from INEC, leading to uncertainty as the 2027 general elections approached.

The PDP's legal team planned to appeal the court ruling and explore other legal options to resolve the leadership crisis.
