Wike Advises Jonathan Against 2027 Presidential Bid Amid PDP Concerns

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cautioned former President Goodluck Jonathan against running for the 2027 presidential election. Wike advised Jonathan to preserve his legacy as an international statesman rather than seeking a return to the presidency.

Amid speculations of Jonathan's potential candidacy with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike emphasized the need for strategic thinking and party unity. He criticized those promoting Jonathan's candidacy, accusing them of hypocrisy and betrayal during the 2015 elections.

Wike warned that decisions within the PDP could exacerbate internal crises, stressing the importance of avoiding actions that could harm the party's cohesion.
