Wike Demands APC Governors Deliver States or Stay Silent on 2027 Win

Nigeria's Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has laid down strict conditions for governors belonging to the All Progressives Congress. At Wednesday's launch of the APC's Presidential Campaign Council in Abuja, Wike made clear that any governor who fails to secure support for President Bola Tinubu within their state must not participate in celebrating national victory should one materialize in 2027.

Wike holds the position of coordinator for Rivers State and the FCT as part of the campaign structure. He framed his message as a matter of accountability and performance requirements.

Each governor's ability to deliver locally, Wike stressed, forms the bedrock of any presidential-level success, making their performance at home a direct measure of their dedication to securing Tinubu's reelection. The minister expressed strong confidence in his own ability to produce results.

Infrastructure developments across the territory, he told FCT Area Council Chairmen, would move residents toward supporting Tinubu. Similarly, he pledged to ensure Rivers State, where he hails from, rallies behind the president's political ambitions.

Wike's message applied uniformly to all council members, irrespective of titles or roles assigned within the campaign framework. He underscored that returning Tinubu to power must remain the paramount goal, outweighing any individual positions held by those involved in the campaign.

His statement also conveyed that state-level shortfalls would become apparent once voting concluded and that responsibility for poor outcomes would rest with identifiable individuals.
