Wike Defends Tinubu Against One-Party State Allegations

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, held a media chat in Abuja where he addressed allegations that President Bola Tinubu is trying to transform Nigeria into a one-party state. Wike clarified that such claims are misleading and that the survival of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) relies on its grassroots strength rather than presidential ambitions.

He noted that the current political landscape does not mirror the oppressive tactics of the late Muhammadu Buhari's administration, asserting that the PDP must focus on rebuilding its grassroots structure to remain effective. Wike also mentioned the ongoing internal crisis within the PDP, emphasizing that the party's ability to contest presidential elections hinges on stabilizing its foundational structures.

He criticized opposition parties for seeking political advantage through loopholes and reiterated that the PDP must prioritize its grassroots to maintain functionality amid internal challenges.
