Wike's Coalition Faces Labour Party Rejection in Rivers

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, leads the Rainbow Coalition, which supports the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, not the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, the Labour Party (LP) has disowned the coalition, asserting that it does not represent authentic LP members in Rivers State.

Favour Reuben, the former South-South Zonal Vice Chairman of LP, stated he is not part of the coalition and criticized the LP governorship candidate recognized by the coalition as a member of the PDP. Political analyst Celestine Akpobari condemned the coalition for being non-inclusive, highlighting that all key positions are held by the Ikwerre ethnic nationality.

He argued that power should shift to the Ogoni people, who have not held significant political offices. Despite this, Udengs Eradiri, a former Ijaw Youth Council president, described the coalition as a significant asset for Tinubu's re-election, emphasizing its broad political interests.
