Wike's Coalition Faces Criticism from APC Leaders Ahead of 2027

The political landscape regarding the Wike-led Rainbow Coalition is becoming increasingly contentious as the 2027 elections approach. Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is at the center of a dispute with APC state governors over the coalition's structure supporting President Bola Tinubu's re-election.

In Bayelsa State, APC Chairman Duoye Diri stated that the party disassociates itself from Wike's coalition. In Rivers State, Warman Weri Ogoriba, the state party chairman, criticized the coalition's lack of organizational capacity and grassroots support, asserting that the APC is focused on its established presence across the state.

Additionally, Favour Reuben from the Labour Party alleged that the coalition's governorship candidate is a PDP member, while Dr. Celestine Akpobari criticized the coalition for being non-inclusive, favoring only the Ikwerre ethnic group. Conversely, Engr. Udengs Eradiri, a former Ijaw Youth Council president, defended the coalition as a robust political network.

Meanwhile, Governor Francis Nwafiru of Ebonyi State warned the coalition to avoid the state, claiming he could "destroy" it and its supporters.
