Nigerian Footballer Wilfred Ndidi Mourns Father's Tragic Death in Road Accident

Nigerian footballer Wilfred Ndidi's father, Sundai Ndidi, passed away in a road accident in Delta State, just hours after retiring as a military officer. Wilfred Ndidi shared his heartbreak on Instagram, recounting his final conversation with his father.

Sundai Ndidi's death was confirmed after he was rushed to a hospital in Agbor. Wilfred Ndidi, who plays for Turkish club Besiktas, expressed his grief and honored his father, who inspired his first international goal during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The Nigerian football community, including the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Super Eagles, sent messages of condolence. Bukola Olopade, the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), described the loss as a painful moment for the entire sports community.

Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, the NFF General Secretary, also expressed shock and offered support to Wilfred Ndidi.
