Ndidi Finds Strength in Football After Father's Death

Wilfred Ndidi, the captain of the Super Eagles, shared that football aids him in maintaining focus after the recent loss of his father, Sundai Ndidi, who passed away on January 27, 2023, due to an accident in Delta State. Following his father's death, Ndidi joined family and friends in mourning and paid tribute during a farewell ceremony.

He returned to the pitch just four days after the loss, playing 23 minutes in a 2-1 victory against Konyaspor, and later scored in a 4-0 win against Göztepe on February 22, 2023. Ndidi expressed the emotional burden he has been carrying but emphasized the support from his family, friends, teammates, and Nigerian fans, which has been overwhelming.

He aims to honor his father's legacy while leading Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where he celebrated his first goal against Tunisia.
