Woman Sentenced for Forging NAFDAC Letter for Visa

Remilekun Temitop Balogun Okedeyi was convicted for forging an employment letter from the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to facilitate her visa application to the United Kingdom. The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) investigated her case, revealing that she falsely presented herself as a NAFDAC employee.

The investigation uncovered a visa fraud scheme linked to at least sixteen visa applications, where Okedeyi submitted forged documents, including a bank statement from Chanel Microfin Bank, which she did not actually operate. The case was heard at the Ikeja Special Offences Court, presided over by Justice Mojisola Dada.

Okedeyi pleaded guilty to six counts of border forgery and false information. She was sentenced to one year in prison, with an option of a fine of 500,000 Naira, payable to the federal government within seven days.

Additionally, she was ordered to perform two days of community service outside court premises and to enter a bond for good behavior.
