Oyetola Honors Maritime Workers on Workers’ Day

On Workers’ Day, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, recognized the dedication and resilience of maritime workers, highlighting their invaluable contributions to the nation's economy.

He described the maritime sector as a critical pillar in Nigeria's economic diversification agenda, underscoring the importance of seafarers, dockworkers, port administrators, marine engineers, and fishermen. Oyetola noted that the efforts of these workers are essential for sustaining the lifeblood of the economy, facilitating trade, and enhancing port efficiency, which significantly contributes to national revenue.

He reiterated the federal government's commitment to improving working conditions, enhancing maritime security, investing in modern port infrastructure, and promoting policies that protect worker welfare and dignity. Oyetola urged maritime workers to uphold their professional integrity and strive for excellence to build a globally competitive maritime sector.
