Algeria Advances to Round of 32 in World Cup 2026

Nine African countries qualified for the Round of 32 in the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament. Algeria is the latest African team to advance to the knockout stage, achieving this after a 3-3 draw against Austria.

This result allowed Algeria to progress as one of the best third-place teams, finishing with four points in three matches. They concluded their group stage in third position in Group J, behind Argentina and Austria.

Other African nations that qualified include the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Africa, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Egypt, Cape Verde, Morocco, and Tunisia. However, Algeria's performance was notable as they managed to avoid elimination, unlike Tunisia, which finished bottom of their group with zero points.
