Akwa Ibom ACPN Urges Stronger Local Pharma Industry on World Pharmacists Day 2025

The Akwa Ibom State Branch of the Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) called for the prioritization of local pharmaceutical production to address the rising cost of medicine and reduce import dependence on World Pharmacists Day 2025. The State Chairman of ACPN, Pharm Tony Anderson, emphasized the need to strengthen the indigenous pharmaceutical industry to ensure the sustainable availability of essential medicines, create jobs, and boost revenue.

He highlighted the collapse of the Jubilee Syringe Manufacturing Company and the challenges posed by the exit of multinational firms like GlaxoSmithKline. Anderson also welcomed the approval of the Pharmacists Consultant Cadre by the Federal Ministry of Health to enhance pharmaceutical services and patient care nationwide.
