WPG Completes N360bn Sale of Eko Disco Stake to Transgrid Enerco in Nigeria's Power Sector Deal

WPG has finalized the sale of its N360 billion stake in Eko Disco to Transgrid Enerco, making it one of the largest privatization takeovers in Nigeria's power distribution sector since 2013. The transaction was completed on December 30, 2025, with Transgrid Enerco paying an initial N180 billion in cash and the remaining N180 billion through bank guarantees.

The consortium involved in the acquisition includes strategic institutional investors like Stanbic IBTC, North South Power Company Limited, and Axxela Limited, aiming to enhance service reliability and customer satisfaction in Eko Disco. This deal signifies a strategic move in the energy infrastructure sector in Nigeria.
