Xabi Alonso Faces Caicedo Injury Doubts Before Arsenal Derby

Xabi Alonso, the current manager of Chelsea, is facing a dilemma regarding midfielder Moises Caicedo ahead of the derby against Arsenal scheduled for Sunday at the Emirates Stadium in London. Caicedo has suffered a recurrence of an injury after participating in Chelsea's 4-3 victory over Brighton last week.

He came on as a second-half substitute but left the field just 14 minutes later, requiring treatment. Fortunately for Chelsea, he exited the pitch unaided, but this incident has raised further concerns about his fitness.

Alonso stated that Caicedo's condition will be fully evaluated on Saturday, indicating, “We will check tomorrow. Tomorrow is the final decision for the squad on Sunday.” Caicedo has previously missed Chelsea’s Premier League opener against Fulham and their Carabao Cup victory over Luton Town earlier this season.

If Caicedo is unable to play, Alonso has alternatives available, including Reece James and Romeo Lavia.
