Nigerians Evacuated from South Africa Arrive Thursday

The first batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa is scheduled to arrive at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 5:00 AM on Thursday. This evacuation follows renewed concerns over xenophobic attacks against foreign nationals in South Africa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented by spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa, announced that the repatriation will be facilitated by a flight departing from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg on Wednesday night. The Nigerian government has reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and welfare of its citizens living in South Africa and continues to engage relevant stakeholders to address the situation.
