Xi Jinping Begins State Visit to U.S. with Grand Welcome

Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday afternoon for a state visit to the United States at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump.

Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, were greeted by Trump and Melania Trump, marking a significant diplomatic gesture. The welcome included a red carpet, honor guards, a 21-gun salute, and the playing of both nations' anthems.

This visit, which lasts three days, follows Trump's trip to China in May, highlighting a historic exchange of visits within six months. In a speech, Xi expressed greetings to the American people and emphasized the importance of cooperation between the two nations, stating they should be partners rather than rivals.

He reiterated the need for a stable relationship characterized by cooperation, moderate competition, and manageable differences, underscoring the historical logic of peaceful coexistence.
