Trump Welcomes Xi Jinping for Historic State Visit

On September 25, U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping at the White House for a significant state visit, marking Xi's first trip to Washington in over a decade.

The visit commenced with a formal state arrival ceremony, which included military honors and a state dinner. Xi arrived in Washington on September 24 and was welcomed by Trump at Joint Base Andrews.

The two leaders engaged in approximately 90 minutes of closed-door discussions before the dinner. The ceremony featured military music, national anthems, and an aerial display involving a B-2 bomber and four F-22 fighter jets.

Trump characterized his relationship with Xi as a “truly great friendship,” while Xi emphasized the need for cooperation despite existing differences. Trade was a central topic, as both nations aimed to uphold an 11-month trade truce and discussed progress on agricultural purchases and tariff arrangements.

Analysts noted that while the meeting was crucial, it was unlikely to yield sweeping resolutions to all disputes.
