YABATECH Seeks Ford Foundation’s Backing for Girl-child Innovation, Enterprise Hubs

Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) is seeking support from the Ford Foundation to establish enterprise innovation hubs for young Nigerian women. The project aims to provide practical technical and entrepreneurial skills to bridge the gender gap in technical education.

Rector Ibraheem Abdul made the appeal during a meeting with Ford Foundation executives, led by Regional Director for West Africa, Catherine Aniagolu. Abdul emphasized the importance of moving beyond theoretical knowledge to practical entrepreneurship and innovation.

Aniagolu commended YABATECH for its contribution to technical and vocational education, particularly in empowering young women. She urged Nigerian institutions to enhance their global relevance and noted that specialized institutions like YABATECH have a better chance of attracting international recognition and research support through partnerships.
