Yari Urges Northern Support for Tinubu's 2027 Campaign

Abdulaziz Yari, the Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, asserted that the northern region has no valid reason to withhold support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 presidential election. Speaking in Lagos, Yari emphasized that Tinubu had previously supported former President Muhammadu Buhari's emergence and re-election, and thus the North should reciprocate.

He recalled that Tinubu resisted pressure to run for president in 2019, prioritizing the North's opportunity to complete its term. Yari, who serves as the senator for Zamfara West, expressed confidence that the northern populace would back Tinubu, highlighting his efforts to restructure the country despite challenges from previous administrations.

He noted that the campaign council's support for Tinubu is based on a belief that Nigerians desire his continued leadership. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos, accompanied the PCC members to the Oba of Lagos's palace, underscoring the role of traditional institutions in fostering national unity.
