Yayi Threatens Legal Action Over Indigene Claims

Senator Solomon Adeola, known as Yayi and representing Ogun West in the Senate, has threatened to take legal action against Hon Abayomi Hunye, a suspended member of the All Progressives Congress, and Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello of the Peoples Democratic Party. This threat follows claims made by Hunye and Marcus-Bello during interviews on Channels Television, asserting that Adeola is an indigene of Ekiti State without providing evidence.

Adeola, through his media adviser Kayode Odunaro, described these claims as false and libellous, demanding proof of his state of origin within 24 hours. The controversy arises as Adeola prepares for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election.

Traditional councils in Kemta, Ogun State, have affirmed his ancestral ties to the community, with Chief Abayomi Rotimi stating that Adeola is a son of the community, regardless of political affiliations. Rotimi also dismissed claims that the Ile Ogboni of Kemta was shut due to Adeola's relationship with the community as false and politically motivated.
