Yiaga Africa Validates 2026 Ekiti Governorship Results

Yiaga Africa has validated the results of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, confirming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) results align with their independent tally. They commended INEC for improvements in logistics and the peaceful conduct of the election.

However, Yiaga Africa raised concerns about rampant voter inducement, weak management of sensitive materials, and poor public communication. They noted discrepancies in voter turnout figures, estimating a turnout of 34.1% compared to INEC's announced 38.7%.

Yiaga Africa pointed out that INEC appeared to use 2022 registered voter figures instead of updating them for 2026. They recommended that INEC clarify turnout discrepancies and tighten quality control for sensitive materials ahead of future polls, including the 2027 general elections.

Additionally, they urged security agencies to combat voter intimidation and for political parties to better train poll agents to ensure fair competition.
