Yobe Summit Advocates for Youth Inclusion in Governance

The summit held in Damaturu, Yobe State, focused on the critical need for sustained youth inclusion in governance. Convened by Faruk Abdullahi Umar Chiromari, the event welcomed participants from 17 local government areas.

Chiromari commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for transforming youth participation in governance, noting the administration's appointments of young people to various roles, including as special advisers and legislative aides. The summit called for greater representation of youth in local government councils and state assemblies, emphasizing that young people constitute half of Yobe's population.

Alhaji Baba Shehu co-convened the summit, acknowledging the challenges of youth inclusion and reaffirming commitments to overcome them. The discussions aimed to strengthen networks between younger and older leaders to advocate for youth aspirations in local governance.

The event reinforced the need for unity and mobilization of youth-driven grassroots structures to enhance the political base of the APC ahead of upcoming elections.
