Yobe State Proposes 5% Budget for Social Protection in 2027
The Yobe State Government has proposed a five percent allocation benchmark for social protection interventions in the 2027 budget to assist vulnerable households and communities impacted by insurgency and displacement. Dr. Muhammad Goje, Secretary to the State Government, announced this during the opening of the 2027 Budget Bilateral Discussions with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Damaturu.
He stressed that allocations must be based on clearly defined activities and measurable outcomes to avoid duplication. The discussions aimed to ensure that resources are directed towards impactful programs.
Goje urged MDAs to submit realistic proposals linked to the state's development priorities and prioritize completing ongoing projects. The budget will focus on consolidating the achievements of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration and strengthening service delivery in areas such as security, education, healthcare, and economic development.
He also highlighted the importance of addressing malnutrition through coordinated interventions across various sectors.
